Royal Botanical Gardens Winter Wonderland

Since I've gone to the Royal Botanical Gardens so many times, their Winter Wonderland event was all over my instagram, in my email, and flyers even showing up in my snail mail. I figured Becky would be down for another trip to the Gardens, and of course I was correct.

This is an event they have done for years, and it often sells out. Unlike last year, I was able to secure the tickets and we headed down together. Right away we were greeted with the chance to purchase alcoholic beverages. Just like in the Distillery District I went with the spiked apple cider, my all-time favourite winter beverage. Becky chose the same. We unfortunately had to drink it rather quickly as the cups were biodegradable and apparently started the process right away as they began leaking.

The Winter Wonderland does a really good job of adding lights to the already beauty of the garden. While Illumi focuses 100% on the lights, this was more to highlight nature. As I would expect from Canada's largest botanical garden. There was a specific trail to walk along as well as fire pits you could stop at and warm yourself at. I think the coolest part was a tree that if you stood at the trunk would pick up your voice and light up accordingly. A few kids took the opportunity to scream into the tree, but people singing into it had better success of changing the colours.

It only took us half an hour to walk through, but as we know from past videos, Becky and I move quickly. I wish the cups had of held together better. If they had I probably would have gotten another cider and sat next to the fire place for a while. All in all, the trip was worth it, as all trips to the RBG are.
